MAIN INDEX

THE GALAPAGOS ISLANDS

With 13 major islands, 6 smaller ones and few rocks laying 600 nautical miles offshore. Crossed by the Equator the islands became famous since the mid XIX Century when Charles Darwin based on great proportion his theory on The Evolution of the Species. For decades very few people inhabited the islands until the late 60´s when Ecuador Operators started to run regular cruises.

In order to have a consistent system to manage this extremely fragile and unique environment, the Ecuadorian Government together with a large number of international organisations and biologists and experts from all over the world had developed a series of strategies lead by the Galapagos National Park aimed to preserve this living laboratory of Evolution and to secure its survival as well as its restoration on certain areas which had being affected by the introduction of foreign plants and animals. On the other hand, the Park Service is responsible of the regulation of all human activities either those related with the settler's influence or produced by impact of tour operations.

We have put together the best options to cruise and get to know the Archipelago. Our offer covers from 100 passenger ships to small yachts providing services ranging from deluxe to superior tourist classes with activities that go from regular nature walks, horseback riding and trekking to sea kayaking, snorkeling and scuba diving.
