Professor Louise Richardson is the Principal and Vice-Chancellor (chief executive officer) of the University and Professor of International Relations. A native of the Republic of Ireland and a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, the University of California and Harvard University, Professor Richardson took up post as Principal of St Andrews in January 2009. Formerly Executive Dean of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University, she is widely regarded as one of the world's leading authorities on the study of terrorism and political violence. Professor Richardson was appointed Professor of International Relations in November 2010.
