Gabriela Bustamante earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences from the University of Minnesota and subsequently served as a T32 Fellow in Cancer-related Health Disparities at the same institution. Currently a full-time faculty member at the School of Public Health of Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador), Dr. Bustamante focuses her research on the social determinants of health, emphasizing the impact of the physical and social context on the development of cancer and other chronic diseases. Her research spans multiple areas, including identifying disparities in cervical cancer prevention among underserved populations, understanding the sociobiological pathways leading to cancer morbidity and mortality, and engaging in community-participatory interventions to eliminate disparities in preventable cancers.
