Professional Profile

Diego Benítez, with a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester (UK), leads the Department of Electronics at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador). He also heads the Applied Signal Processing and Machine Learning Research Group. Dr. Benítez's research interests encompass signal and image processing, pattern recognition, machine learning, intelligent instrumentation, and measurement systems for medical applications, energy management, security, control, and non-destructive testing. With a background as a Research Engineer at Bosch Research and Technology Center (Pittsburgh, USA), he has authored more than 160 journal articles and papers and holds 26 U.S., European, and foreign patents.
