USFQ students completing online courses in progress (not current and only enabled to register degrees), have a series of administrative, pedagogical, and technological services created in order to optimize their studies and activities academic.
The Online Education instructors are mostly USFQ professors in the classroom mode. Therefore, they have high professional and academic profiles such as Ph. D, master's degrees, diplomas, and specializations from the best universities in the world.

The value for subjects of study in Online Education can be paid per module (two subjects are recorded in each module) or per semester (two modules). This cost does not include books or materials and must be consulted at the treasury offices by mail to Melania Arboleda Castillo; firstname.lastname@example.org. or Online Education; email@example.com.
Note: It must be taken into account that if the payment corresponds to credits that are not taken in the semester in which the payment was made, such values will not be transferred for a new period.

- Student's Name and Last Name.
- Student ID Code.

- Data for the person that must go on the Invoice (in case the invoice is issued in the name of another person).

Required modules and classes
El programa de estudios en línea se lleva a cabo en un sistema modular que cubre un año académico que consta de cinco módulos.

- The online academic year has two semesters and a summer period.
- Each semester consists of two modules.
- The module lasts eight weeks of study.
- The student must take two subjects in each module.
In order for students to obtain a bachelor's degree, they must comply with all the subjects indicated in their respective Academic Grids that govern their Academic College, which have specialization, general college subjects and degree work requirements.

Colloquium or conference class
Students must complete the colloquium class by virtually attending online conferences that may contain topics about their career area or other areas. This online class is regulated from the Online Education program directly, for more information contact Paulina Rodríguez; email@example.com.
USFQ's Department of Foreign Languages (DLE) offers different levels of English so that students can meet the requirements of that language.
To know what the first level of English the student must take is, it is necessary to send an email or approach USFQ's Department of Foreign Languages to take the placement exam. Once the level is established (with the result obtained in the exam), you must make the corresponding record of the level of English which you must access.

Students must take 16 credits in free elective courses in addition to general college and career/specialization courses.
These courses must be at least level 200, are totally under the control of the student and can be subjects of any academic school. You can take subjects that are not related to the career, as long as its prerequisites are met.
The purpose of these elective courses is to encourage you to explore other areas outside of the specialty, to increase skills under the philosophy of Liberal Arts. These credits can be used as the basis for a second specialization or subspecialization (minor).
Withdrawal from Courses
The student who considers withdrawing from a subject due to force majeure that prevents the regular follow-up of her class, must review the Student Manual and then fill out a form to formalize her withdrawal taking into account the dates of the academic calendar.
Steps to follow:
- The student of the online modality must verify the dates of withdrawals in the academic calendar. Withdrawals will not be applied outside these published dates.
- You should consult your academic kardex.
- Verify that, when processing a withdrawal, your academic load does not decrease below the minimum established in the Student Manual for online Education.
- The student may only withdraw twice from the same subject. If you exceed the number of withdrawals allowed, you must request the withdrawal from the Academic Affairs Committee. If this is the case, the student must indicate in the comments section of the form that they are exceeding the number of withdrawals allowed.
- After completing the withdrawal form, the student must verify that the process has been registered in their academic kardex.
For in-person students who are registered in online subjects, they must verify the withdrawal dates in the academic calendar and the conditions specified in the Student Handbook.

Guide for students taking online courses at the USFQ:
Students face-to-face, throughout their career, have the opportunity to take classes in the virtual learning environment of the USFQ. To do this, they must ensure how much is the maximum number of online credits they can take.
Online classes require prior training for the development of academic activities found in courses of this type. In addition, it is important to carry out a rigorous and orderly development of the class to successfully complete the virtual subjects.
The platform used for these classes is Desire2Learn (D2L) and the following requirements must be taken into account:
- Have a good Internet connection and a computer with updated programs to enter classes online.
- Adequately know the use of the platform by reviewing the tutorials at the following link: https://bit.ly/32ijl4x
- In case of having problems with D2L and Zoom (virtual tool for videoconferences), contact the Technical Support email.
- In case of problems with the Banner system, contact the Help Desk office or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Enter the virtual class daily and meet academic obligations within the eight weeks stipulated in the online module period.
- It is recommended to allocate at least two hours a day of time for each class.
- Maintain activity in the classes despite there being breaks in the university, the subjects are activated on fixed dates. There are activities for 7 days a week, including weekends, long vacations and holidays.
- It is important to know how to manage the different channels of communication with teachers within the virtual classroom such as: email, the news section or the locator within the virtual classroom to be in contact with the teachers or classmates.
- Know the use of the class calendar: know that there is always a delivery date for all academic obligations. This means that the date must be strictly observed, and that delivery times are fixed and must be respected.
- Have an active participation in the discussion forums. Use arguments and contributions at the academic level and participate in a timely manner. In addition, promptly verify the deadlines for contributions.
- Virtual classes also use sessions in real time through the Zoom tool to have a synchronized activity between students and teacher.
- Know how to use Zoom and prepare the computer with the respective programs (have headphones and microphone) before the sessions.
- Homework and assignments for all classes will always go through a plagiarism filter within the D2L system. In case of finding irregularities, the teacher will be obliged to report them to the USFQ Dean of Students.
90% of the material needed for classes (books, texts, etc.) is in digital format, on the same online platform.
The student must verify in the syllabus of the classes if there are other additional resources necessary and that must be acquired so that they do it in a timely manner.
- Students must respect the registration dates that appear in the academic calendar for the subjects of the online modality.
- Remember that the online subject registration process is carried out in the same way as it is done in classes in the USFQ Banner system.
- The withdrawals of the subjects registered in this modality, also have deadlines and the process is described in the Student Handbook.
- It is the student's responsibility to enter their classes online on time, verify that they have everything they need to start their class and keep track of their grades.
- The Honor Code also applies to online classes.
