Professional Profile

Carolina Reyes-Puig is a Ph.D. candidate in Biodiversity, Genetics, and Evolution at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (Portugal). She holds a Master's degree in Conservation Biology from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador and a Bachelor's degree in Biological and Environmental Sciences from Universidad Central del Ecuador. She is a researcher and professor at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ, Ecuador). She is curator of the Vertebrate Section of the Zoology Museum of the USFQ. Her work focuses on taxonomy, systematics, and conservation of small Neotropical vertebrates, with an interest in spatial analysis of species distribution patterns and priority areas for conservation. She has experience in the study of large mammals with camera traps in the Andes. She has more than 37 articles published in indexed journals, including the description of more than 30 new species to science. She is interested in phenotype evolution in ectotherms.
