Margarita Brandt obtained her Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Brown University (United States) and currently holds a position as a Biology professor at the University of San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador). With over two decades of research experience in Marine Ecology, Dr. Brandt's studies are dedicated to understanding the adaptability of marine species to ocean warming. Her work involves biodiversity monitoring in temperature gradients and conducting ecological and physiological experiments. Notably, she possesses extensive knowledge of marine invertebrate diversity in the Galapagos Islands, covering echinoderms, crustaceans, mollusks, and corals. Dr. Brandt has contributed significantly to coral reef restoration strategies and has played a key role in developing manuals for subtidal monitoring and catalogs of biodiversity associated with coral reefs.
