Orison Woolcott
He graduated as a medical doctor from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (Lima, Peru). He pursued a postgraduate degree in cellular physiology at the Karolinska Institute (Stockholm, Sweden), and a postdoctoral fellowship in integrative physiology at the University of Southern California (Los Angeles, California) focusing on the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes. Additionally, he has worked in the field of epidemiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles, California), researching the association of altitude with obesity and diabetes, as well as developing predictors of cardiometabolic diseases and mortality. He is a specialist in Public Health, having graduated from Imperial College London (England).
He has served as an editor for journals such as Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Endocrinology, and has been a guest editor for the journal High Altitude Medicine & Biology, as well as serving as an ad hoc reviewer for various international journals in areas such as basic sciences, nutrition, obesity, diabetes, public health, epidemiology, and internal medicine. Currently, he works as an editor at The Lancet Group and holds the position of Senior Editor at The Lancet Regional Health – Americas.
