María Gabriela Baldeón Calisto holds a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of South Florida (United States) and a Master's degree in Safety, Health, and Environment from Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ, Ecuador). As a full-time research-professor at USFQ, she leads the Applied Signal Processing and Machine Learning Research Group and directs the Institute of Innovation in Productivity and Logistics, known as CATENA. Dr. Baldeón Calisto specializes in developing deep neural networks and machine learning algorithms, particularly in applications related to medicine, image analysis, natural language processing, and finance. Her notable projects include the development of algorithms for hyperparameter optimization and automatic neural network construction, with applications in international hospitals to improve disease diagnosis.
