Beca Dragon Sports

The Dragon Sports Scholarship can cover up to 20% of the tuition fees for a degree; it does not apply to enrollment.

Targeted towards: Outstanding athletes from all schools in Ecuador, as well as exceptional athletes at the provincial level, seeking support to continue developing their talent in the world of sports. The Dragon Sports Scholarship is granted for the following disciplines:

  • Athletics and Triathlon
  • Basketball
  • Cycling
  • Gymnastics
  • Jiu-jitsu
  • Swimming
  • Weightlifting
  • Squash
  • Taekwondo
  • Tennis
  • Table Tennis
  • Beach Volleyball
  • Indoor Volleyball
Terms and Conditions

Every student awarded the Dragon Sports Scholarship must:

  • Maintain a minimum semester and cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
  • Not receive grades of "C" or lower in any subject.
  • Be a full-time student at USFQ.
  • Adhere to the agreed-upon training schedule signed with the respective coach at the beginning of each semester.
  • Participate in sports events representing USFQ.
  • Renew the scholarship annually on dates established by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. To renew this scholarship, the student must fulfill the conditions stipulated in the scholarship guide.

Requirements

  • Be a member of both your school's team and your province's team and be an outstanding athlete in your team.
  • Take the admission test by April 6, 2024.
  • Score a minimum admission score of 1800/2400 points.
  • Be a member of either the school's team or the province's team.
  • Submit certificates confirming membership in the school's team or the province's team.
  • For individual sports, present certificates of the current year's sports results.

Scholarship acquisition process

  1. Contact Sports at becasdeportivas@usfq.edu.ec and submit the sports curriculum.
  2. The Sports Department will schedule appointments for sports evaluations with those applicants who meet the required sports profile.

  3. Complete special tests related to the sport practiced by the applicant. The sports coordinator will conduct and submit a detailed report on the applicant's evaluation process.

  4. Attend interviews with the dean or coordinator of the student's intended major.

  5. Submit a digital portfolio and additional requirements according to established guidelines.

Evaluation results of sports and academics will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. Once decisions are made, applicants will be informed of the outcome.

The reasons for not receiving a Dragon Sports Scholarship will remain strictly confidential with the Scholarship Committee.

Important:

  • The scholarship percentage may vary based on the Committee's decision and the funds available at the University for scholarship allocation.

  • This scholarship does not apply to programs in the College of Music. For information on scholarships related to these programs, please refer to the Cultural Scholarships section.

  • The Dragon Sports Scholarship cannot be reserved, applied retroactively, or combined with other scholarships.

  • The Dragon Sports Scholarship applies to the summer period. The student must contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships if intending to enroll in summer classes.
