Dr. Chethan is an assistant professor of Neurology in the Department of Neurology at Baylor College of Medicine. He is a board certified Neurologist, Vascular Neurologist and Neurointensivist. His extensive training includes internship in various specialties at Bangalore medical College, Bangalore University, an internal medicine internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, a neurology residency, vascular neurology fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital and a neurocritical care fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. He has authored or co-authored 31 manuscripts in the areas of stroke and critical care neurology and neurosurgery in reputable journals including the Lancet, Neurology, Annals of Emergency Medicine and Neurocritical Care. He is an ad-hoc reviewer for eight journals including Stroke, Neurology, Neurocritical Care etc. His main areas of clinical and research interest include stroke, clot characteristics in acute ischemic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracranial hemorrhage, cerebral edema, and outcomes in neurocritical care. He currently receives funding to study intracranial non-invasive monitoring of intracranial fluid shifts and has been funded for studying intracranial fluid shifts in microgravity. He has designed and successfully completed many studies, including award winning non-invasive monitoring of intracranial fluid shifts during dialysis (ACE-VIPS) and have received recognition for outstanding proposals for research at the Neurocritical Care Research Network conference.
