Mary Kay Bader has 39 years experience with an emphasis in neuroscience/ICU. She holds CCRN, CNRN, SCRN & CCNS certifications. Mary Kay is a clinical nurse specialist in Neuro/Critical Care. She has held clinical and joint faculty positions at 2 universities. She is employed as a neuro/ICU CNS working with the team to provide clinical expertise in developing protocols for neuro/ICU patient populations, educating members of the team, conducting research, and improving patient outcomes. She has lectured nationally/internationally on Hypothermia and Targeted Temperature Management, ICP, Neurotrauma, Thromboelastography in Neuro/Trauma, Spinal Cord Injury, Aneurysmal SAH, Novel anticoagulants in the presence of intracranial hemorrhage & stroke.
Mary Kay has published 37 articles/4 books. She is on the Editorial Board for “Therapeutic Hypothermia and Temperature Management Journal”. Mary Kay is on the board of directors for the Neurocritical Care Society (NCS) and is the current Secretary. She is a Past President of the American Association of Neurocience Nurses. She was honored as a Fellow for the NCS in October 2013 and is also a FAHA. Mary Kay is a member of the Brain Trauma Foundation Medical Advisory Board as well as the Scientific Advisory Board for Cerebrotech and Neuroptics. She served on the Jury for the NCS multimodality monitoring consensus document in 2013-2014. She graduated with her BSN from St. Mary’s College (Notre Dame IN) and received her MSN from Loyola University (Chicago IL).
