The Musical Arts program is focused on the study of contemporary music, both popular and academic, encompassing theoretical, harmonic, orchestral, compositional, and executional knowledge as considered from the philosophical lines of praxis and aesthetics. Instrumental studies are conducted by means of a scenic and improvisational approach, taking into account all the physical and kinesthetic aspects that are inherent to the particularities of each instrument. Compositional studies are undertaken from both the artistic and the contemporary commercial perspectives, according to what the new and emergent musical industry of the country and region require. The program also studies the application of new musical technologies, as in the fields of musical notation, sequencing, and recording. All of the above aims to shape a new generation of instrumental musicians and composers, who are not only capable of meeting the currently unsatisfied demand for this type of professional in a creative manner, but also generate sustainable growth through new undertakings in the field. The program affords two different pathways: Composition for contemporary media, and Execution of contemporary music.
