Program Educational Objectives

The Industrial Engineering curriculum is designed so that our graduates are able to achieve the following career and professional accomplishments:​

  • Graduates will be able to design, analyze, integrate and optimize organizational systems, as well as apply industrial engineering tools to achieve efficient and effective solutions.
  • Graduates will be able to add value to organizations applying both effective communication and teamwork skills, as well as leaders and innovators, who maintain solid ethical and social values.
  • Graduates will value the importance of continuous acquisition of knowledge and skills to adapt to business needs and technological advances.

Student Outcomes

The Industrial Engineering curriculum is designed so that our ​students acquire the following skills, knowledge, and behaviors:

  • Engineering Core. An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering
  • Experimentation. An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
  • Systems design. An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
  • Teamwork. An ability to function on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Engineering problems. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems.
  • Responsibility. An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.
  • Effective Communication. An ability to communicate effectively.
  • Engineering Education. The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context.
  • Life-long learning. A recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in lifelong learning.
  • Contemporary issues. A knowledge of contemporary issues.
  • Engineering tools. An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern industrial engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
