The Veterinary Medicine program is focused on the study of animal health, emphasizing: prevention, diagnostic, and treatment of animal diseases; public health, where attention is paid to the control of diseases that are communicable to humans; livestock production systems, in order to guarantee environmental sustainability and food security; and, conservation medicine, which involves the care of wildlife. Together with Public Health under the concept of “one world, one health,” these fields of veterinary practice aim to conserve our livestock and environmental heritage, as well as preserve human and animal health.
