Simeon Floyd received his PhD in anthropology, with a specialization in linguistic anthropology and South American indigenous languages, at the University of Texas, Austin (USA). He held postdoctoral positions at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics (Netherlands) and Radboud University (Netherlands), and in the Prometeo fellowship program of the Secretaría de Educación Superior, Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación (Senescyt, Ecuador). He is professor of Anthropology in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador), where he primarily teaches courses in linguistic anthropology. He focuses on indigenous languages of Ecuador (kichwa and cha'palaa) and Brazil (nheengatú), and on the areas of descriptive, comparative, historical, and community linguistics.
