El Panel se creó para dejar claros los argumentos científicos, económicos y morales a favor de la conservación y para hacer frente a la deforestación generalizada, la degradación de los bosques y los incendios forestales que se han intensificado en los últimos años. The Science Panel for the Amazon (SPA), inspired by the Leticia Pact, is the first high-level regional scientific initiative dedicated to the Amazon. It was established to present the scientific, economic, and ethical case for conservation while addressing the widespread deforestation, forest degradation, and wildfires that have intensified in recent years.

Universidad San Francisco de Quito USFQ, in collaboration with the Panel, is organizing an insightful conference to discuss “The Amazon We Want.” More details about the event will be available soon.
