About the Publication

Aula Magna is USFQ's monthly publication. Its content is heterogeneous, diverse, and thoughtful and is guided by the interests of experts, professors, and students who participate voluntarily under professional coordination, editing, and design. Likewise, Multimedia Journalism students contribute reports, chronicles, interviews, and profiles of various thematic and multiplatform nature.

The content covers university news, topics of general interest, science, culture, economy, society, education, and opinion essays. In this sense, it provides information not only to USFQ in particular but also to the community in general. It seeks to highlight the achievements of the University in the research, scientific, academic, and professional fields, in addition to constantly promoting its activities in all fields of knowledge. It also disseminates the projects that USFQ undertakes with other national and international institutions and publishes analyses that students and professors carry out on current issues.

Aula Magna fosters freedom, entrepreneurship, education, debate, recognition, and ethical awareness. It seeks to promote integrity and arouse curiosity, in both readers and writers. Encouraging the community to become involved in content creation, the publication encourages a plurality of points of view, giving space to the topics of greatest interest, but also prioritizing those that traditionally have not been as well received. The contents of Aula Magna are the responsibility of their authors and do not necessarily reflect USFQ's views.

Supplements

Aula Magna circulates with The “Enfoque” magazine, a publication that examines global and national conjunctural matters. Its content is prepared by USFQ Multimedia Journalism students under the direction of Professors Eric Samson and Juan Alvarado. "Enfoque" presents in-depth research on topics that concern and interest the population, as well as those that are not well known.

Print Run

A total of 17,000 copies of the publication circulate. Of these, 14,000 circulate free of charge together with the newspaper Metro Ecuador and 3,000 are distributed within the university campus.

Presentation

Aula Magna consists of 12 pages (21.5 x 27 mm). It is fully printed in full color on bleached and satin newsprint, giving it a high-quality finish, great sharpness and gloss on photos, and advertising space.

Modality

The editor of Aula Magna is in charge of editing and style correction, as well as defining the editorial agenda for each month, coordinating the coverage of topics, establishing the list of collaborators, and polishing the final content. Reporters' articles may be on topics assigned or proposed by themselves.

Once the content preparation and review process is complete, all the material is delivered to the Design Department for layout and printing, done by the Metro Ecuador newspaper. Aula Magna is distributed in the middle of each month, 10 times a year.
