La iniciativa busca acercar a niños, niñas y jóvenes al aprendizaje del idioma chino mandarín y a la cultura china, fortaleciendo además competencias multidisciplinarias. El campamento se estructura en dos componentes: Académico: enfocado en habilidades comunicacionales, brinda herramientas prácticas para que los participantes se desenvuelvan en situaciones básicas en entornos de habla china. The Confucius Institute of Universidad San Francisco de Quito (IC USFQ), with the aim of expanding opportunities for children and youth interested in learning Mandarin Chinese and wanting to know more about Chinese culture, and in order to provide multidisciplinary competencies, would like to propose the realization of a vacation camp at the Santiago Gangotena Campus in Quito open to the community.

The vacation camp will consist of two components: academic and cultural. The academic component will focus on communication skills, providing practical communication tools for students to navigate basic Chinese-speaking environments.

On the other hand, the cultural component will include various activities centered on cultural exchange and learning, covering areas such as sports, visual arts, performing arts, culinary arts, as well as sections dedicated to history and tradition.

Costs

The cost of the vacation camp consists of:

  • Registration fee of USD 10
  • Program cost of USD 70

Dates

  • Start: Monday, July 15, 2024
  • End: Saturday, July 27, 2024

*The camp is proposed to conclude with a theatrical presentation for parents on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

  • Monday to Friday: 8:30 am to 12:30 pm

  • In-person synchronous in Quito (Santiago Gangotena Campus)

  • Group 1
    • From 6 to 9 years old

  • Beginner (from zero)
  • Basic 1 (previous knowledge)

Availability

  • Limited to 15 students per group.

Instructors

This camp will be led by all available native Chinese instructors from IC USFQ, who will be in charge of Mandarin Chinese classes and cultural activities.
