- B.Sc., Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador.
Francisco obtained his Doctorate in Tropical Ecology from the Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED), University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. His research is aimed at understanding the effects of climate change and land use dynamics on tropical ecosystems. He is the scientific director of the GLORIA-Andes Network (www.condesan.org/gloria) and a founding member of the Andean Forest Research Network, RBA (www.condesan.org/redbosques). He maintains a long-term research program in the páramos of the Pichincha volcano and the forests of the Chocó-Andean Biosphere Reserve. Additionally, his research is associated with supporting the design of financial mechanisms for biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation.
