Professional Profile

Juan Sebastian Galecio Naranjo received his Veterinary Surgeon degree from the Universidad Austral de Chile in 2004 and his Master of Science degree with a mention in Animal Health in 2007. At the same university, as a full-time professor, he taught equine medicine undergraduate and graduate programs and was named director of the Equine Hospital. At present, he received his doctoral degree in Pharmacology of xenobiotics at the University of Murcia, Spain. He has focused his research on veterinary anesthesiology, pharmacology, antimicrobial resistance, deficiency diseases, and large animal medicine. He is a professor at the San Francisco de Quito University, where he is responsible for the contents of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Parasitology, and the Exploration of Domestic Animals in undergraduate programs. He collaborates on multidisciplinary projects related to wild deer and conflicts between domestic and wild animals. In addition, Juan Sebastian realized connecting activities with small-scale farmers who use draught animals on Ecuador's Coast and Andean regions. He has published manuscripts in journals such as "Pharmaceutics," "Animals," and "Research in Veterinary Science." Finally, Juan Sebastian is a member of the ethics committee for using research animals at the San Francisco de Quito University and serves as a reviewer for two international scientific journals.
