El objetivo de este evento es promover la difusión e intercambio de conocimientos asociados al diseño estructural de edificios y puentes, así como en temas de investigación vinculados a la ingeniería estructural. El congreso IABSE Ecuador 2025, en su primera edición, tendrá lugar en la ciudad de Quito, en las instalaciones de la USFQ. Las temáticas del evento son: Estructuras de hormigón, acero, madera, materiales biológicos y otros materiales. Conexiones en edificaciones de acero. Edificios altos. Puentes. Elementos no estructurales. Monitoreo estructural. Aislamiento sísmico y disipación de energía. Confiabilidad estructural. The First Structural Engineering Congress – IABSE Ecuador 2025 is organized by the national chapter of IABSE (International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering), in collaboration with the Civil Engineering programs at Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) and Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL). The main goal of this event is to promote the dissemination and exchange of knowledge related to structural design of buildings and bridges, as well as to encourage research discussions in areas relevant to structural engineering. The inaugural edition of the IABSE Ecuador 2025 Congress will take place in Quito, Ecuador, at the campus of Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ). Topics covered in this edition include:

  • Structural systems made of concrete, steel, timber, bio-based materials, and other emerging materials.
  • Steel connection design in building structures.
  • Bridge engineering.
  • Non-structural components and their performance.
  • Structural health monitoring (SHM).
  • Seismic isolation and energy dissipation systems.
  • Structural reliability and risk assessment.
  • Seismic retrofit and rehabilitation of structures.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the First Structural Engineering Congress – IABSE Ecuador 2025, organized by the IABSE National Chapter and the Civil Engineering Program at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ), we are pleased to invite you to submit your scientific article(s) for possible presentation as a poster during the Congress, and for possible publication in a dossier of the scientific journal “ACI Advances in Sciences and Engineering” during the first semester of 2026. This journal is indexed in Latindex 2.0, AmeliCA, Redalyc, ROAD, DOAJ, among others. Articles must comply with at least the characteristics of the “Communication” type. Articles will be evaluated through refereeing by the ACI journal (Avances en Ciencias e Ingeniería). Articles must be published on the journal's platform (https://revistas.usfq.edu.ec/index.php/avances), preferably in English, by October 10th, 2025. Subsequent notifications will be made through the journal's communication system.
