Professional Profile

Kelly Swing holds a BS in Marine Biology and a BA in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina (USA). He earned an MS in Zoology from Auburn University (USA) and a PhD in Zoology and Fishery Science from Louisiana State University (USA). In 1990, Dr. Swing came to Ecuador as a Fulbright scholar affiliated with the Universidad San Francisco de Quito. Over the course of 25 years, he served as the Founding Director of both the Boston University Tropical Ecology Program across Ecuador and the Tiputini Biodiversity Station in Yasuní. His diverse courses encompass Biodiversity of Ecuador, Zoology, Ethology, Ichthyology, and Rainforest Ecology. Dr. Swing's dedicated efforts center on the ecology and conservation of species and ecosystems. He is the author or editor of several books and numerous scientific articles covering biodiversity, animal behavior, and human rights. Additionally, he has contributed to various reports and documentaries for esteemed outlets such as BBC, CNN, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, and Animal Planet.
