Professional Profile

Alberto Sánchez holds a PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from The University of Strathclyde (UK) and a MSc in Real-Time Power Electronics and Control Systems from the University of Bradford (UK). He is currently a professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador). He has worked in various research projects with a focus in embedded systems, power electronics and control systems in industry, agriculture, mobility and medicine. He has published several articles in journals and conferences. In the past, he worked for Petrobras and PetroAmazonas EP. He has lead multi-million engineering and maintenance management projects for infrastructure in oil and gas and the Metro de Quito. Alberto is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers – IEEE, where he held the  Directorship for Latin-America and The Caribbean and sat as a member of the Board of Directors. He actively participates in the organization of technical events and conferences including the triannual IEEE Sections Congress – Ottawa 2023 in which he was General Chair.
