Sebastián Ponce

Sebastián Ponce pursued his postgraduate studies in Advanced Materials and Processes at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany). He also earned a Ph.D. in Technical Chemistry from the Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany). Currently, he serves as a professor-researcher in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador), where he heads the Thermochemical Processes Laboratory. His research primarily focuses on the utilization of residual biomass for high-value-added materials like catalysts, adsorbents, and nanomaterials, as well as chemical recycling processes for waste, including the production of diesel from used motor oil and the depolymerization of PET plastic into its original components. He has authored numerous articles in prestigious journals such as "Chemical Engineering Journal," "Applied Catalysis B," and "Waste Management," among others.
