Juan Carlos Valdivieso, a graduate of Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) with degrees in Hospitality Management and Finance (Ecuador), furthered his education by earning a Master's degree in Leisure Management from EAE Business School in Barcelona (Spain). For his Ph.D., he delved into an economic model of management for protected areas at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain). Presently, he serves as the Director of the Institute of Heritage and Sustainable Tourism at USFQ and holds a position as a professor in the Hospitality Management program. With a comprehensive portfolio, Juan Carlos has authored books, scientific papers, and creative articles, all tailored to the hotel and tourism sectors. His expertise extends to consultancy and advisory roles for companies in the hotel and tourism industries, and he has actively contributed to the development of various sustainable projects. His commitment to environmental conservation is underscored by his membership in the World Commission on Protected Areas of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) since 2013.
