Professional Profile

Gabriela García earned her Doctorate in Health Sciences and Technology in 2017 from ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Currently, she holds a full-time research position in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador. In her capacity, she manages the Industrial Engineering Laboratory, with a primary research focus on ergonomics and biomechanics. Dr. García's work spans the assessment of ergonomic interventions, including exoskeletons, biomechanical gait analyses, standing work evaluations, and biomechanical studies in athletes. She utilizes various measurement systems, such as electromyography, motion capture, and force platforms, among others. Dr. García has authored and collaborated on numerous scientific studies published in reputable academic journals, including "Human Factors," "Ergonomics," "Journal of Biomechanics," and "Plos One." She actively collaborates with the Ergonomics Center at the University of Michigan in the United States, and her contributions to the field have been recognized with the IEA Kingfar Award from the International Ergonomics Association.
