Pablo Torres holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Cuenca (Ecuador). Additionally, he holds a Master of Science and a PhD from the University of California, Irvine (USA). He is a professor and researcher at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador), where he teaches courses related to Structural Engineering, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. During his PhD, he worked on issues related to the development of numerical and analytical models to predict the behavior of base plate connections in steel buildings, within the context of performance-based engineering. His research includes the application of modern artificial intelligence techniques in the development of earthquake engineering models. He has participated in international conferences as a speaker. In addition, he has publications in high impact indexed journals. He collaborates with international researchers from the United States, England and Chile.
