The Music and Sound Production career focuses on the study of contemporary trends and theories, linked to the production and recording of music with cutting-edge technology. This degree studies the recording, pre-production, and production of discs; audio post-production, remixes, advanced editing, and live sound. All this while enjoying contemporary settings with real-life experiences.

Advantages

The USFQ College of Music (CoM), is the most important music faculty in Ecuador. 20 years ago the University assumed the responsibility of preparing, strengthening, supporting, and believing in the country's musicians. A member of the prestigious Berklee Global Partner (BGP), the CoM has become an important point of reference in the teaching of contemporary music and music production worldwide.

Joint program with Berklee
It consists of the direct transfer of courses from the CoM-USFQ to Berklee (Boston), thus opening the possibility for students to finish their careers at Berklee College of Music in two years.

In addition to this, Berklee annually offers scholarships for the best students of the CoM, exchange programs for a semester or a year on the Valencia campus, as well as the opportunity to study one of its master's programs in both Boston and Valencia. Berklee College of Music has been the world's leading contemporary music school for more than half a century. Its students, alumni, and teachers have won more than 250 Grammys and Latin Grammys, among other important awards.

Guest artists
Every semester the CoM offers clinics and seminars with top-level international artists, both in the field of music and production, some of whom are artists-in-residence who teach classes on campus for a specified period of time. The CoM has received artists such as John Abercrombie, Alex Alvear, Jeff Berlin, Dennis Chambers, Taylor Eigsti, Mark Ferber, Scott Henderson, Jonathan Kreisberg, Sebastian Krys, Orlando Fleming, Omar Martínez, Ron McClure, Maria Elena Mexia, Mike Moreno, Adam Nussbaum, Ted Poor, Antonio Sánchez, Will Vinson, Screaming Headless Torsos, etc.

We are the first University in Ecuador to create the AES (Audio Society) student section, “USFQ AES Student Chapter”, being part of the most important association of sound engineers in the world.

Job Market

The student who completes the Music and Sound Production program is trained to be a versatile producer who understands various musical styles, in addition to having production knowledge radio, film, and television. You can work as a music producer for records, jingles, television commercials, video games, movies, etc., as well as operating any kind of professional audio equipment such as studio recording, mixing, mastering, or live sound engineer.
