Professional Profile

Alessandro Veltri earned his Ph.D. in Physics in 2005 and is a full professor in the Department of Physics at the University San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador). He worked as a postdoctoral researcher for the University of Calabria (Italy), the University of Bordeaux, and the Paul Pascal Research Center (France). He has been a visiting researcher at Case Western Reserve University (United States). In 2009, he participated in the European FP7 Metachem Project, studying the theoretical compensation of losses in hybrid localized plasmons using gain elements. His research interests cover liquid crystals, random systems, photochemistry in composite materials, and hybrid plasmonics, with special attention to the plasmonic response of metallic nanoparticles in the presence of gain media. Over the past 20 years, he has published scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and has been invited to present his work at international conferences.
