Professional Profile
Dr. María del Carmen Cazorla is the Director of the Institute for Atmospheric Research (IIA) and the Atmospheric Measurement Station (EMA) at USFQ. Dr. Cazorla obtained her PhD in Meteorology from Penn State University. Dr. Cazorla is a former NASA Postdoctoral Fellow and a Fulbright Scholar. Dr. Cazorla's group continously launch ozonesondes from Quito and Galapagos to monitor tropospheric and stratosperic ozone as part of the NASA SHADOZ network. Dr. Cazorla's EMA labs in Quito and Galapagos are also NASA AERONET monitoring stations. Dr. Cazorla is interested in experimental and modeling studies to investigate the physiscs and chemistry of atmospheric pollution, ozone production mechanisms, as well as changes in atmospheric composition in connection to climate change.
