IAESTE, International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience, is an international association that promotes the academic and professional development of young people around the world through paid internships in universities and international companies in more than 80 countries. The association is a consultative body of the UN and UNESCO. It was founded in 1948 in London, England and is represented in 80 countries. In Ecuador it has been represented nationally by the Universidad San Francisco de Quito since 1999.

About Us

IAESTE is a programme that offers the opportunity to acquire professional and intercultural experience for the development of internships lasting between two months and one year. IAESTE is a strategic ally for students, employers and universities because through the management of their internships they test their knowledge and provide technical and scientific learning.

National students

This program is open to students in science, technology, engineering, architecture, interior design, management and marketing. Students can do internships from two months to one year and receive a monthly stipend. All internships are in English, regardless of the country they travel to.

There are two types of offers:

Global offers. - These are internships that are open to the whole world and students from all member countries can apply. You can apply for these offers throughout the year depending on availability and employers' needs.

Exclusive offers. - These are internships that are specifically exchanged with IAESTE representatives in each country, there is only one applicant for each offer. For these offers you must go through a national, international and corporate selection process. To obtain one of these internships you must follow a process that opens annually from July to September and the internship in the following year from May onwards. Internships last from a minimum of 6 weeks to a maximum of one year.

International students

International students who wish to come to Ecuador must apply from the IAESTE committee in their country. From IAESTE Ecuador we take care of the planning, management and logistics of their stay in the country. The internships to which they can apply are within the Universidad San Francisco de Quito and in some companies with which we have agreements.

Employers

IAESTE offers companies the possibility to have an international student from technical, science and engineering backgrounds on their payroll. The employer can receive the intern for a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 6 months.

Andy Silva Feijoo

"Traveling to Switzerland for my internships was incredible; I met people from all over the world and shared unforgettable experiences with them." "I formed a valuable group of friends with whom I explored Switzerland and lived various adventures thanks to IAESTE Switzerland's events, such as hikes, museums, and delicious food... this experience allowed me to gain practical knowledge in my field, expanding my understanding of the available specializations and strengthening my academic skills... although it was difficult to adapt to the work environment at first, over time everything flowed more easily, and now I have an 'extra' on my resume and valuable knowledge that cannot be learned solely through studies and university."

"My experience was wonderful and much better than I expected. I learned about a new field in my career that I hadn't explored before, and every day at my job has been super cool, gaining new technical experience in laboratories, machines, etc. I have learned to solve my problems, to do everything by myself, and to see things from another perspective... I would definitely recommend applying for an international internship. Professionally, learning a new field in my career has been incredible, it adds to my resume and has helped me see future opportunities more closely. I plan to apply for my master's here in Germany and hope to be accepted."
