Professional Profile

Diego Grijalva holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Irvine (United States), a Master's in Economics from McGill University (Canada), and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ, Ecuador). He is a professor of Economics and Research Coordinator at the USFQ School of Business. He is also a professor at several graduate programs at USFQ and Director of the Institute of Business and Development. He has published works in labor economics, economic development, political economy, behavioral economics, international trade, and business innovation and growth. He has extensive experience in research and consulting for international organizations including the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), and the United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER). He was part of an international advisory consortium for the assessment of the effects of the free trade agreement with the European Union.
