Enrique Terán holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the Central University of Ecuador and a Doctorate in Pharmacology (PhD) from the University of London (England). He has a Master's degree in International Cooperation for Development from the International University of La Rioja (Spain). He is a full-time professor at the University San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador). As a Biomedical researcher, he is interested in gestational hypertension, metabolic and infectious diseases, and pharmacology. He has authored more than 120 publications in indexed journals. He is a member of the Ecuadorian Academy of Medicine and the Academy of Sciences of Ecuador. He was awarded the Federico González Suárez Decoration for academic and scientific merit. He also received the Eugenio Espejo Honor Mention, awarded to distinguished personalities in biological and natural sciences. He has been a teacher and researcher for over 25 years at universities in Ecuador, Spain, and the United States.
