Professional Profile

Cristina Vargas completed her undergraduate studies at the College of Architecture and Interior Design at the University San Francisco de Quito (USFQ, Ecuador). Subsequently, she earned a Master in Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University (New York, United States), where she worked on several research projects with the Latin Lab team at the university. Currently, she is a full-time professor at USFQ. Her research interests within the field are related to topics on ethnography and methods of architectural representation throughout history. In addition to university teaching, she maintains an independent professional practice in the field of design for small and medium-sized architectural projects in the city of Quito. She has led the design of several multifamily housing projects in Quito.
