Occupational field

The Specializations in Odontology at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito are designed so that graduates acquire in-depth knowledge and practical experience in the different areas of odotontology. Our graduates will be able to enter private practice, as well as be employed in public institutions related to this field of medicine.

Few postgraduate programs are offered in Ecuador in relation to the number of general odontologists that graduate from different universities in the country, which is why so many of them must go abroad in order to pursue postgraduate studies. In Quito, the Universidad San Francisco offers a postgraduate program in endodontics that is approved by the Council for Higher Education, and which has for over a decade put forth professors with ample clinical and teaching experience.

The specialist in endodontics will be highly trained in innovation, techniques, and methodologies related to the fields of endodontics and emergency management. He or she will be able to solve problems involving buccal health through correct diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of pulp and periapical diseases, using and developing skills associated with current technology, such as microscopy, rotary systems, and periapical surgery.

Upon successful completion of the Specialization in Endodontics program, professionals will demonstrate theoretical and clinical mastery in relation to cases specific to their area of expertise, displaying independence and creativity in the solution of problems associated with the different clinical procedures of endodontics.

We furthermore expect our graduates to adopt ethical attitudes and values so as to adequately direct their professional practice, and thus improve the quality of their interactions with patients and society in general.

Studying to be a Specialist in Endodontics at USFQ gave me employment opportunities even before having finished the program. The exacting demands of its teachers and curriculum goes hand in hand with the excellent infrastructure and technology of its clinics, making USFQ the correct decision in terms of cutting-edge education.

I am currently working as an endodontist in nine dental clinics in Quito and one in the city of Loja. At most of these clinics I started as a replacement specialist, but thanks to the skills and abilities I demonstrated was quickly promoted to main endodontist, contributing to the prestige of those health centers.
