Current approaches to technology often overlook its relation to the wider ecology of communities. This project seeks to foster interdisciplinary, methodological tools, and best practices in relation to digital technologies, community media open source technologies, as well as the documentation of indigenous languages and cultures A main concern of the project is to support the use of digital media in the preservation and the promotion of indigenous oral traditions and historical memory, as well as in struggles for state recognition of nationality.

Digital communication and technology is an integral part of human existence, yet benefits only half of the world's population. The project considers the important role of digital tools and strategies in community activism. Indeed, at a time when globalization is increasingly endangering minority languages and cultures, it is important to consider how digital technology can best be used as a transformative resource by commmunities. This project aims to document and support the use of communication at community level. This includes the documentation and promotion on Indigenous Languages and cultures.
The primary beneficiaries are media activists and practitioners, Secondary beneficiaries include the wider community which will benefit from language and culture revitalization and the use of media and communication to meet their news. More than 20 communities, across the Amazon in Ecuador, Venezuela and Peru.; The project will impact on the knowledge base concerning technology and the recording of oral histories. It will also make visible the lives and histories of the communities impacted in the project.
