The opening of a new cohort of a graduate program and its scholarship offerings are subject to the enrollment and registration of a minimum number of students. If this minimum number is not reached, a refund process will be carried out for the amounts paid and the student's status will be reversed.

Description

At USFQ we firmly believe that to achieve a more dignified and equitable society we must mobilize actions that transform the way we manage water. So our commitment is to educate a new generation of water professionals capable of combining disciplinary knowledge, crossing technological, social and environmental boundaries and using theory to inform practice.  

The Master in Integrated Water Management Solutions is a program aimed at professionals who wish to excel and drive integrated water management initiatives. The program aims to develop professionals who can collaborate, create and deliver innovative approaches to complex water management challenges.  

To achieve this, the Master's program has a hybrid format that allows for flexibility in scheduling to fit the reality of our students. Combining the expertise of international leaders in teaching, research and practice across a wide range of disciplines, to give you the tools, skills and confidence to take your career in new directions. Through case studies, field trips, problem-based learning and industry internships we will help you lead integrated water management solutions. The program also focuses on developing participants' skills in the areas of critical thinking, teamwork and effective communication.

Applicant Profile

We have designed this master's degree with a multidisciplinary approach, seeking to complement and expand the previous knowledge of those who participate. Therefore, this is a program suitable for people with diverse profiles and skills.  

You can apply to the program if you have a third level degree, duly registered with SENESCYT in the following fields: Biology, Biotechnology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Mathematics, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Livestock Production. Similarly, as appropriate, professional experience of at least one year in any aspect of water management will be taken into account.

Occupational field

Our graduates will be able to create a successful and rewarding career in the water sector, helping to create a more resilient and equitable future. Graduates will have the high-level knowledge and skills needed to analyze water issues, excel and lead comprehensive and innovative solutions for optimal water management, taking into account the ecological, social and economic complexities involved. They will be able to develop in both managerial and technical roles within government, industry, non-profit organizations, NGOs, water funds, consulting firms, etc. They may also choose to continue their academic training in a doctoral program or pursue a research career focused on a water-related topic.

The program also seeks to provide the theoretical and methodological bases necessary to: 

  • Diagnose complex problems and propose solutions for water management in a creative and analytical manner, which are coherent and context-specific, with a vision of the future, integrating natural and social sciences with engineering knowledge. 
  • Propose projects related to water management through empirical processes, case studies, information technologies and the scientific method; applied within national regulatory frameworks and with reference to international standards. 
  • Plan and manage water management projects and programs more fairly and equitably through the integration of social, economic and environmental factors. 
  • Maximize water management by leading or being part of interdisciplinary teams capable of analyzing and solving everyday problems. 
  • Evaluate and implement water-related policies, projects, programs, research, and infrastructure at the public, community, and private levels. 
  • Value the conservation needs of aquatic ecosystems and human development needs, appreciating the diverse cultural, social, ethnic and gender perspectives; promoting a culture of management without discrimination and guaranteeing fundamental rights. 
  • To defend the construction of inclusive dialogues where ancestral knowledge and practices are included.

Finally, at USFQ we believe in the integral education of the human being under the philosophy of the Liberal Arts, so that, throughout the program, we will review topics that are indirectly linked, but that provide professionals with diverse perspectives to better understand the world in which they live.

Requirements

Basic requirements:

  • Third level degree, issued by an accredited university in the country and registered in the SENESCYT. In the event that the degree is obtained abroad, it must be apostilled or legalized by consular means. The University will verify that the degree corresponds to the third level and that it is in accordance with the Academic Regulations in force.

  • Copy of identity card or passport.

  • Degree certificate with grade.

  • Official record of grades.

  • SENESCYT title registration.

  • Pass the selection process for USFQ postgraduate programs. For this you must access the following link: http://www.usfq.edu.ec/admisiones/admisiones_posgrado.

Specific requirements:

  • Complete the Program Application Form at the following link: https://form.jotform.com/231586179767675. At the time of filling out the form, interested persons should:

  • Upload their curriculum vitae.

  • Upload a letter of motivation to be part of the program.

  • Contact information (full names, institutional affiliation and e-mail) of two academic/professional references who will issue the letters of recommendation, which can be in English or Spanish. The Program Director will directly ask the contact persons to fill out the Recommendation Form in order to complete the applicant's application.

  • If applicable, attach the additional requirements to apply for the scholarships (see section SCHOLARSHIPS). 

  • Attend a face-to-face or virtual interview to evaluate the applicant's experience and motivation.

USFQ Alumni have 10% discount.

The total cost of the program can be paid in two installments corresponding to the number of regular academic terms of the program. Each installment can be paid in cash, check, student credit, or credit card.

  • We accept all national and international credit cards. 
  • You can defer your payments with cards issued by: Diners, Discover, Visa Titanium, Banco Guayaquil, Banco Pichincha, Banco Bolivariano, Produbanco and Banco del Austro. 
  • Payments for the entire program: deferred without interest for the duration of the graduate program. 
  • Payments by semesters or academic periods: up to 9 months without interest. This program has 3 (three) academic periods, therefore, the total of the program can be paid in 3 (three) equal installments and each one deferred up to 9 months without interest. Payment dates will coincide with the beginning of each academic period (check dates in the Academic Calendar of the program). 
  • Payments per year: up to 12 months interest free. 
  • Financing with credit cards of the Produbanco-Promerica Group up to 24 months without interest.

Scholarships

To apply to our scholarship program, when filling out the Application Form, you must indicate the scholarship of your interest (maximum two) and, if applicable, upload the additional requirements requested by each scholarship. The scholarships are not additive and the decision on their allocation will be made by the Admissions and Scholarship Committee of the Master's Program, once the applicant has been accepted into the program. 

The scholarships available for the 2023 cohort are: 

4 Scholarships of 25% of the program fee. 

These will be awarded to applicants who demonstrate a track record and experience in the water sector (which will be assessed through their application). To maintain this scholarship, the student must obtain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) equal to or greater than 3.5/4.00.
