The College of Hospitality, Culinary Arts, and Tourism educates entrepreneurs who are distinguished by their standards of ethics and academic excellence. Thanks to our philosophy of Liberal Arts, we are characterized by generating a high level of leadership and administrative and creative skills, thus promoting the passion for service, excellence, and sustainable development of society. Our main differentiator is the integration of theory and practice in our classes, in order to provide all the necessary tools to achieve excellence. We are the only University in the region that has seven restaurants in which our students carry out their practices in a real environment with authentic, internal, and external diners. This component has made our College a leader in the education industry recognized for its excellent international reputation as one of the best hospitality and gastronomy schools in the region.

According to the World Travel & Tourism Council, tourism in 2018 represented 10.4% of world GDP and generated 1 in 10 jobs in the world. The College of Hospitality, Culinary Arts, and Tourism (CHAT) plays a key role in the development of society, since tourism once again arises as the main industry to revive the economy of Ecuador, and provide a long-term development solution for the well-being of society.
The College of Hospitality, Culinary Arts, and Tourism has been characterized by being a college of entrepreneurs, professionals, leaders, and innovators. It is an honor for us to have students, alumni, and a teaching staff that has managed to succeed at the international level, not only being recognized with awards and titles or successful businesses and ventures, but also as generators of change and opinion leaders.
We are proud to see the values of USFQ reflected in this new generation of professionals in Hospitality, Gastronomy, and Tourism. The projects and plans of hospitality, sustainable tourism, and responsible gastronomy carried out inside and outside the University demonstrate, in addition to professional and intellectual maturity, the importance of the liberal arts in the education and training of the individual.
It is no coincidence that we are the first and only university to have a Sustainable Tourism subspecialization in the Galapagos Islands, and we are the representatives of Slow Food International, a movement that involves millions of people in more than 160 countries to ensure that we all have fair access to clean and good quality food. It is also not surprising to see our hospitality graduates succeed in Dubai, France, Switzerland, and even Netflix shows, as USFQ's mission is to educate free people prepared for these beautiful challenges and opportunities.
This year has been very special for those of us who make the College of Hospitality, Culinary Arts, and Tourism, for which I want to thank the wonderful group of people who have made it possible for our College to be a benchmark for the industry at the regional level and to be recognized on the world level. Thanks also to our Alumni who help us improve and inspire us day by day with their ideas and success stories.
