College of Communication and Contemporary Arts

We are a community of artists, communicators, educators and media professionals, who, within an interdisciplinary environment, are dedicated to training future leaders in the areas of communication, creative design and audiovisual production, and contemporary art.

Why study at COCOA?

Upon graduation, our students carry with them an added value in their education: the broad vision of the world formed through the liberal arts philosophy of USFQ, and the spirit of innovative entrepreneurship of COCOA. All programs require final projects in which students work with real clients, or must make public exhibitions of their work. Our students from the creative areas have very successfully presented their film work at Cinemark, Cine Ocho y Medio; the creative areas have exhibited in the galleries of the Metropolitan Cultural Center, Itchimbía Cultural Center, the College of Architects of Ecuador, and the Ecuadorian Culture House, among others.

Mission

The College of Communication and Contemporary Arts is a community of artists, communicators, educators and media professionals, dedicated to training future leaders in the areas of communication, creative design, audiovisual production and contemporary art, in an interdisciplinary environment.
We firmly believe that each student should be responsible for the acquisition of their knowledge and professional training through a commitment to their own personal development. The College's professors are committed to a liberal arts-based education that offers students diverse possibilities for creative expression and critical thinking. In COCOA programs, students experience their creativity with the use of state-of-the-art technology and carry out entrepreneurial activities through the resources and contacts they acquire in their fields of study. Finally, we believe that our academic community has a duty to create a positive impact in Ecuadorian society.

Vision

At the College of Communication and Contemporary Arts we believe that our members should be opinion leaders, producers of the most relevant and influential works in their areas of action, and promoters of alliances between industry and academia. We aspire to be an example of excellence in the country's education.
We want our graduates to reach leadership positions in their professions, to be entrepreneurs and owners of their own companies, to develop independent projects, and to be an example of professional and artistic excellence.
As a faculty, we believe that we can achieve this vision through kindness, dedication, and collaboration with our students.

Objective

Our goal is to form leading professionals in the areas of communication and art, for the country and the world. Our students will be critical thinkers, with the ability to adapt to changes in their professions, due to the market, technology, or any other reason. Additionally, they will contribute to the progress of Ecuador through the development of their own companies, businesses, and independent projects. With what they have learned at school, they will be exemplary individuals, committed to the development of society.
The works and projects that our students produce will be quality standards in the communication industry, or in the cultural production circuits of the country.
The College's professors will be opinion leaders in their areas of expertise, will be actively involved in the improvement of their academic and pedagogical work, will be dedicated to generating research projects, and will be strongly linked with the community.
Finally, the College seeks to position itself as a leading institution in the areas of communication and art, with national and international recognition.
